Traveling to Sonoma State University
Arriving by Plane
There are two major airports that serve the San Francisco Bay Area:
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- Oakland International Airport (OAK)
Both airports are convenient for traveling to Sonoma State University.
The Sonoma County Airport Express busses are available from both airports and take travellers to Sonoma County (see details below). If you are arriving from the airport with the airport shuttle (Sonoma County Airport Express), let the driver know that you would like to take a taxi from the Double Tree Hotel and they will call ahead and arrange one (Yellow Cab).
The TAXI fare from the Double Tree Hotel to Sonoma State University is approximately $14 and a 20% discount applies for passengers transferring from the airport shuttle to yellow cab.

How to Catch the Shuttle
| From SFOBuses pick up passengers at the San Francisco Airport (domestic terminal) on the lower level (outside the baggage claim area) on the center island, at blue pillars. International Terminal pickup is located at the Arrivals Level, outside customs in the outer roadway center island at the “Airporters” zone. | From OaklandBuses pick up and disembark passengers directly outside baggage claim at the Regional Transportation stop. Location is across three lanes of traffic between the two terminals at the bus shelter marked “Regional Transportation.” |
Arriving by Car
Sonoma State University is located 50 miles north of San Francisco, off Highway 101, adjacent to the communities of Rohnert Park and Cotati. The street address is 1801 East Cotati Avenue.
Please Note:
Non-resident conference attendees will need to purchase a parking pass for each day of the conference ($2.50) to avoid a parking ticket. Best parking lot is Lot J. Attendees staying in the campus accommodations will receive their parking pass with their registration packet for parking in any non-reserved lot.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS
From San Francisco Bay Area
Highway 101 north to Rohnert Park Expressway exit. Turn right onto Rohnert Park Expressway and follow to its end at Petaluma Hill Road. Right on Petaluma Hill Road to the stoplight at East Cotati Avenue. Right on East Cotati Avenue to Main Entrance of the campus on your right. Information Booth is at the end of the drive.
From Northern California (Crescent City, Eureka)
Highway 101 south to Rohnert Park Expressway. Turn left onto Rohnert Park Expressway and follow to its end at Petaluma Hill Road. Right on Petaluma Hill Road to the stoplight at East Cotati Avenue. Right on East Cotati Avenue to Main Entrance of the campus on your right.
From Northern California (Redding, Chico)
Interstate 5 south to Interstate 505. Take 505 to Interstate 80. Take Interstate 80 West to Vallejo to Highway 37 west to Highway 101, then north on Highway 101. Proceed to campus as from San Francisco.
From Sacramento
Interstate 80 west to Vallejo. Take Highway 37 west to Highway 101 north. Proceed to campus as from San Francisco.
